The Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery proudly announces that the Interim Meeting of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies will be held in Brazil, in 2011.
The XIV Interim Meeting of the WFNS will take place in Recife (Porto de Galinhas) from 14th to 17th September 2011, in conjunction with the XV Congress of Continuous Education of the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery. The focus of this congress is fundamentally for the education of young Brazilian neurosurgeons. With this purpose in mind, we expect to have the attendance of an outstanding number of young neurosurgeons from all over Latin-America and Africa.
Although officially the bid was made by our society, I am pleased to inform that we received full support from our sister society, the Brazilian Academy of Neurosurgery and of our continental organization, FLANC (Latin American Federation of Neurosurgery).
Throughout the duration of the four-day Congress, in addition to WFNS institutional meetings, we will review, most didactically, important topics of our specialty, taking advantage not only of the experience of Brazilian neurosurgeons but also absorbing the knowledge and expertise of colleagues from Latin America and other continents.
The venue will be a beautiful seaside resort, located 50 km away from Recife’s International Airport, with easy access from the airport. The weather at that time of year is usually superb with the sun shining over the white sand beaches and the crystal blue warm waters.
In addition to five star resorts there will be many options for three and four star hotels, as well as the "pousadas", where the residents can find bed & breakfast for no more than USD 60.00 per day.
Together with Professor Peter Black and Dr José Marcus Rotta, by then Presidents of the WFNS and SBN, we look forward to welcome neurosurgeons from the five continents to our beautiful country and to exchange valuable knowledge.
We also envisage that such event is a great opportunity to renew existing and make new friendships, and definitely contributes for the process of peace in the world.
